Shimura Tatsumi

A charming portrait of a Japanese lady (dating to the circa the 1970s) by Shimura Tatsumi (志村立美,1907-1980), a 20th-century Japanese artist who is best known for designing several striking bijin-ga (美人画) prints towards the end of the shin hanga (新版画, new prints) art movement. Born in Takasaki, Gunma, Shimura’s real name was Sentaro.

志村立美(Shimura Tatsumi,1907-1980)是一位20世纪的日本艺术家,他最著名的作品是在新版画运动末期设计了几幅引人注目的双人画。岛村出生于群马县高崎市,本名圣太郎。
